Blogging Tips for Birth Centers, Midwives, and Doulas
Far too many people think blogging for their business is just typing up some thoughts, hitting “publish” and calling it a day. We are here to tell you that’s not true! In fact, brain dumping your content won’t help your SEO and will not get readers to click or engage so what’s the point?! We know this can be confusing and overwhelming for some, so we are sharing a few blogging tips to help you get the most from your birth center, midwife, or doula blog!
  1. Set goals – If you don’t know what you want to achieve, you will not be successful. Are you wanting to engage your readers in hopes that they comment? Are you wanting to boost your SEO with keyword rich content? Are you hoping to share it to Facebook and Twitter to gain some likes and follows? Knowing what you want to do with your content makes it easier to write the content based on your goals. Sit down and hash out your goals first!
  2. Eliminate your broken links – Broken links hurt your SEO and make us SUPER sad. It is an easy fix in WordPress though! Go to “tools” on your left sidebar and look for “broken links” it means whatever website your webpage you were linking to doesn’t exist anymore and it can hurt your SEO to direct people to websites that doesn’t exist!
  3. Update your old posts – Look at all of your old posts and give them an overhaul! If it includes old graphics, branding, or the content just isn’t relevant anymore, make sure to jazz it up. Give your audience a reason to come back.
  4. Photos, photos, photos! – Doulas, midwives, and birth centers have the most beautiful clients in the world, take advantage of that! Get as many photos as you can and let the photos do the talking when you are out of blog post ideas!
